Essential Navigation is a comprehensive introduction to navigation and safety awareness for novice through experienced boaters, both sail and power.

This course is highly informative, dynamic and has plenty opportunities for you to put your new found knowledge to work. You will find many interactive exercises to help reinforce the information and lots of chances to try out what you’ve learned.

This course is not mandatory but is highly recommended as a prerequisite to any course we offer!

This online course will take around six hours, but the beauty of it is that you can work through it at your own speed, whenever and wherever you like.

When I was with the USCG Aux aviation program we had to do a similar water test/training. They had us wear flight suits so the training would be “realistic”. Would have been closer to reality if we had been thrown down a flight of stairs and then into cold water but it was better than nothing.
