Professional Safety Training for Commercial Vessel and Yacht Crews Confident Captain’s 3-day STCW-10 Basic Training Refresher Course covers firefighting, personal survival techniques, safety and social responsibilities, and First Aid/CPR. This course is instructed in compliance with STCW-10 Code A; VI/1-2 and provides a variety of practical and theoretical lessons fundamental to onboard safety. The accelerated STCW-10 Basic Training Refresher Course offers students a chance to practice safety skills in simulated environments, side by side with a team of accomplished instructors. This course bundle is followed by written exam(s), after the successful completion of which the participant will receive a five-year refresher certificate for: Please note: Fire Rental gear is approximately $300.00 to rent.
How this course works:
1/2 Day – Personal Survival Techniques (PST) Course In the classroom cover subjects such as emergency situations, evacuation, survival craft and rescue boats, personal life-saving appliances, survival at sea, emergency radio equipment and helicopter assistance. At the swimming pool perform a life raft inflation and inversion and the simulation of other abandon ship procedures. Theoretical and practical portions are tested by exam. 1/2 Day – Personal Safety & Social Responsibility (PSSR) Course This module includes training in compliance with STCW-10 Code A; VI/1 on the various types of shipboard emergencies, principles of survival at sea and increasing your chance of survival. Full Day – Fire Prevention Course In compliance with STCW-10 Code A; VI/1, this part of the course covers shipboard fire fighting organization, the elements of fire and explosion, types of ignition, fire and smoke detection, breathing apparatus use and automatic alarm system familiarization. Confident Captain trainees will fight and extinguish actual fires using personal equipment, appliances methods, and various agents. The module includes a seminar with a written examination and practical instruction taught by licensed and certified fire fighting professionals. Full Day – First Aid and CPR Course Confident Captain Basic Safety Refresher, satisfies the continued competency requirements for STCW Basic Training, as Amended 2010, Basic Training in Section A-VI/1, 46 CFR 11.302(e) and 46 CFR 12.602(e), AND, all of the tasks from the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVIC 08-14
