About Yachtmaster Offshore Sail Practical and Exam Course
This course is designed for those who want to be prepared for advanced navigation and practical skippering of a boat that is at least 7m or 23ft. This course takes place in Rhode Island and includes 6-7 intense days aboard a sailing yacht provided by Confident Captain on a “Preparatory Cruise” guided by a qualified instructor.
The Yachtmaster Sail Practical and Exam course, offered for either Offshore or Coastal certification, covers boat handling under sail and power, and in confined spaces. Through this course students will also learn navigation and pilotage techniques in daylight, at night, and in reduced visibility. This course reviews all aspects of the RYA Theory syllabus, instructing students on coping with emergencies as well as adverse weather conditions. Students often choose to get their Yachtmaster Offshore Certification commercially endorsed. If a candidate chooses to go this route, s/he will have to provide documentation of all of the following in addition to that listed in the Prerequisites section: *These items do not need to be submitted to Confident Captain staff in order to enroll in the course, but will be required at the time of examination.

In order to enroll in the Yachtmaster Offshore Sail Practical and Exam, all candidates must meet the following applicable criteria: Required Sea-time Required Certificate Documentation
