Kate Somers is a captain, designer, educator, media specialist, and technology enthusiast with a passion for learning, sailing, and helping others. With a wide range of skills in web development, graphic design, marketing, and communications, Kate brings a tool box of skills to her projects. She designed the online courses and even took the course herself with Confident Captain.
Kate has her own company, risingT Media and Marketing, that specializes in helping small businesses and organizations succeed by helping with technology and communication needs. Her clients range from professional sailing teams to yacht clubs to marine industry specialists like Confident Captain and the Professional Captains Association.
A passionate sailor, Kate has coached the local high school teams for years and designed a summer program that focused on both sailing and environmental education for elementary and middle school students earning her RIMTA’s Boater of the Year 2016. She has an undergraduate degree in architecture and mathematics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and Master’s degree in Educational Media and Technology from Boston University. When not helping companies, she can be found with her husband, son, and little dog cruising New England Waters.
