Auxiliary Sailing Vessel Endorsement
For Master’s License only
Confident Captain’s 4-hour U.S. Coast Guard-approved course is designed for any candidate holding a USCG Master or Mate license (not OUPV) who plans to operate an inspected sailing vessel. Sailing endorsement courses are best when scheduled to coincide with a Captain’s course and exam. You will work with your instructor to schedule the endorsement course.
Endorsement courses may be held via Zoom. The written endorsement exam can be taken with the regular Captain’s Exam and is included in the endorsement registration fee.
If the endorsement is to be conducted online, you will be sent a Zoom link to participate in this 4 hour-course prior to taking your exam with us.
In order to participate in the course the following criteria must be met:
18 years of age or older
Have a firm understanding of the English language
Complete the Master’s course and examination, or be a current USCG License holder
180 days of sea time on sailing vessels (inland) or 360 days (near coastal)
*Please note, holders of an OUPV credential are not required to hold a Sailing Endorsement.
